Yes, it has been a long time since I have posted — a whole summer’s worth of time. I will catch up on the summer adventures in a future post, but tonight wanted to begin the details of our trip as we venture towards Arizona.
We left 501 today about 3pm, only 3 hours late than we had originally planned. Seems par for the course for us to be late, but it just took so long to get all of the “to-do’s” to-done! 🙂 We had to close up 501 AND pack up the camper for this 6 month journey. Our first destination was Lake Shetek State Park. Since we left so late, we arrived in the dark, which is not at all what we planned. But we did reserve a pull through site, which seemed so exciting that we would be able to pull right in and be set up! Well, lesson learned that even though it is pull through that does not mean it is any easier. The camper was slanted to one side and it took forever to get it level — after breaking a drive up “chuck” (yes, I know it is chock…), we finally used some of the lego type chucks to get it somewhat level.
Finally set up and then decided to go for a short walk. Wow, it is dark out here. Just waiting for some animal creature to come jumping out of the woods.
On the trip we did stop in Spicer for lunch at O’Neils Bar and Pub. If you are ever in Spicer you should stop there — the food was excellent!!
No pictures today, but will post some in the next few days when we are staying longer at a site. We hope to pull out early tomorrow to a) get gas…lower than wanted and b) get to the next site while it is still light out. On to Lewis and Clark Recreation Area!!
That’s it for now!! 🙂
