Our 2nd campsite was Lewis & Clark Recreational Area in Yankton, South Dakota. (Thanks Brad and Monica for the great recommendation!!) We actually spent 3 days here and it was very nice. The last day was kind of crummy since it rained all day, but we got some inside stuff done.
This is the site — if you are ever in this area I would highly recommend these campgrounds. Being on the water is amazing! The 2nd picture was my view while reading with my morning coffee.
We took a number of walks in this park both in the morning and evening. There were a lot of sailboats out the 2nd day when the weather was the best! We also encountered a gaggle of turkeys — they better hurry and hide, Thanksgiving will be here soon.
It had been 87 on Wednesday and then the high on Thursday was in the high 40’s. When we got up that morning, we could not believe how cool the kitchen/living room area was. We soon discovered that we left the MaxAir fan on in the kitchen all night and it was bringing in extra cold air. Once we closed that, it was much warmer.
We ventured to Gavins Dam and took some dam pictures. It is a working dam, generating a high level of electricity. The view from the observation area was incredible!

Tomorrow we will have to hook up and head north — crazy to head where the temperatures are even colder!! We have 2 more campgrounds to discover before we get to the Black Hills, which is forecasting SNOW!! And we thought we were heading south to get away from the cold!! You know how those meteorologists can be — only right 50% of the time, so we are hoping that a warm front surprises everyone and comes through. Otherwise, we will be sure to share our snow pictures because I know those of you in Minnesota really miss that!! 🙂
That’s it for now!!
