So when I last left y’all (hats off to you Ashley) we had 2 cities in mind: Neligh or Burwell (or WalMart). We are at none of the above!! 🙂 We looked again at the weather maps and those previous cities were cold and getting snow so we ended heading towards Grand Island Nebraska and that is where we are still staying. We planned to only stay one night and even kept the truck hooked up as you will see in the picture, but we are going on 3 nights and have just asked for a 4th night. WHAT???
So as you may remember our plan was to go to Burwell or Neiligh and both were forecasted as cold and rain (included Flash Flood Watches), so we headed more south, rather than southwest and that is how we ended up in Grand Island, NE, at the KOA. It is a typical KOA with spots one after another, but as we had planned to stay only 1 day it seemed to work fine. KOA’s usually always have wifi and cable TV so we thought we would get there in time to watch the 2nd half of the Vikings game. We were listening on Sirius, and just hoped all connections would go quickly and we could watch. But you know how things go, we looked all over for the cable connection outside and finally spotted the big yellow TV sign! Got it hooked up jumped inside and of course the TV had to be switched…long story short, as I watched the time tick away on my phone with less than 1 minute left, we finally decided to jump back into the truck, turn on the radio just in time to hear “Vikings have won that game!” We looked at each other and just laughed.
This place also makes pizza and chicken wings and delivers it to your camper. Can you believe that Jermar and Caley?? B-Dubs right to our door. So we did that the first night. Then we sat at the computer trying to plan our next stopping point, with a destination of Colorado Springs in mind. Every place that was a potential had cold and rain in the forecast. So we decided to put on planning on the back burner and stay another night in hopes that the skies would clear and warm up.
That gave me an afternoon to do laundry, which was nice to get caught up on that. The laundry room here is sufficient, but also popular. I thought I would go around check out time and I would be the only one there!! The price was not too bad: $2 for wash and $1 for dry. But as often times happens when you have to pay for your drying, one of the loads did not dry well and of course that was the thick sock load. And someone was hovering over my shoulder for the driers so I dare not put another dollar in. Instead I brought the semi-wet socks home and put them on the couch to dry. (Anyone that has had to pay for laundry knows what I am saying!!!)

This morning I went back to doing research on our next stop and it seemed that I had a good plan in mind. We could get up tomorrow and head that direction. We were glad we stayed today because it has been pouring rain. Our next stop was planned to be Ogallala, NE which was directly west of here on the freeway, so an easy drive. This afternoon I looked at the radar for that city and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???? A Winter Weather Advisory!!!! What the heck????

So we are now on Plan C, or maybe it is G…..LOL…we will stay here ONE more night because tomorrow is no rain here, but only in the 30’s and we will head to this previously planned city (above) where it should be in the mid-40’s when we get there, with a high of 50 the next day and NO Rain!!
And probably by the time you read the next update, we will have changed plan again. I have given up on my paper calendar that I had all of our reservations!! We are just going one day at a time and see what happens.
Hope you are all doing well!
