Did I get your attention??? 🙂 Well, it is not just an attention getter, but it was an actual experience! Yesterday morning, I got up early to read, as I normally do. I like to have the side window open to watch all the comings and goings as people get ready to leave in the morning, or come in early. This is my window! (Kind of weird looking through the screen!!)

So I was sitting there, about 8:05am Saturday morning, when all of a sudden the camper started shaking, but it was worse than just someone walking through it or jumping up and down. Then I looked at that side window and I could see that the whole camper was shaking — almost like a very nervous person trying to take a picture, blurry or an action picture that almost makes you motion sick. It only lasted a few seconds and then as quickly as it started it stopped. Both David and I looked at each other and said was that an earthquake?? David saw another camper next to us outside and walking around his camper looking around. He asked him if he felt the shaking too! He had and they both wondered if Texas would get earthquakes.
We later went to breakfast and everyone was talking about the earthquake, so we knew that was exactly what it was!! It was a 4.0 centered not too far from where we are.
And apparently it is the latest trend of tremors! There is a fault in the area called the Amarillo-Wichita uplift, which may have been the cause, or others believe more tremors are being generated due to the associated activities of the gas/oil industry. Probably a pretty controversial subject for the residents of this area.
It was the first time we experienced an earthquake and I am certainly glad it was only a 4.0. This may sound funny….but I was surprised on how quiet it was. Not sure what I expected…maybe a rumbling, like a distant thunder crack, but there was no sound whatsoever. I did wonder if there would be after shocks at all, and I guess there is the potential to occur days or weeks after. So far, so good…all is quiet! So now that I have experienced an earthquake no other experiences are needed as far as I am concerned!!
Hope your feet are on solid ground today!! 🙂

I envy your experience. One I’ve missed out on so far.
