Mishaps

So far with being on the road almost a month, our Grand Design camper has been amazing!!  (knock on wood)  We figured out the ins and outs of a new camper fairly quickly and everything seems to work as expected.

Our our first trial run camping trip back in Minnesota, one of the awnings collapsed when it just started to rain, and no wind.  (Mishap #1)

Thankfully we had plenty of time to get it fixed before we camped again.  What we call Mishap #2 is not really to the camper, but inside the camper.  Anyone that knows David, knows that he loves his gadgets!!  One of his favorites is inside/outside temperature reading along with an atomic clock.  Of course we brought that with us and he was adamant to have that hanging up on the wall so he could always see the outside temperature specifically.  I was skeptical about anything on the wall with all of the bouncing around that a 5th wheel can experience along the road.  But he got it hung up with the help of 3M wall hangers above the pantry and it survived almost a 3 weeks of travel.  But then he decided he needed to take it down to do some adjustments and then put it back up.  He knew when he hung it that it was not as sturdy as he would have liked but said he would check it before we leave.  Well, without a check list to have that on there to check…LOL…it did not get checked.

We stopped at our next campground and were putting out the slides when we heard this horrendous noise — I thought for sure the slide out was broken and did not know what we would do!!  Instead the clock had fallen off the wall and was crunched in the slideout.  We stopped it immediately and picked up the shattered victim from off the floor.

With a broken heart, David had to throw it away….there was no hope of survival!!!  So you can imagine how he is already planning to find a way to get a new one delivered by Amazon once we are in a more permanent location.  It has survived a lot — being in Corcoran, moving to Louisiana and then to Big Lake — it is like a part of the team!  🙂

Well, hope your day is going well and no mishaps!!
