SNOW!!! …yes snow in Arizona

We knew we were in for an adventure when they started to issue Winter Storm Advisories for this area and then they quickly turned in to Winter Storm Watches and eventually Winter Storm Warnings.  Our area, Camp Verde, was predicted to get 4-6 inches of snow.  Not as bad as Sedona (prediction 1 foot) or Flagstaff (prediction close to 2 feet).  Getting up Thursday morning and settling in to my reading window place, I opened the shade to this!

By Minnesota standards, especially this year, really not too bad.  But we are talking about Arizona!!!  And of course the schools around here were closed and a lot of businesses — like all of the banks, which was strange.  So Max and I bundled up and headed out for a walk.  He does enjoy running around in the snow like a rabbit!!

We thought we would be “brave” and take a drive in to Cottonwood, where they probably had 1-2 inches.  There was somewhat of a whiteout on the way, and the traffic was pretty light.

Really not bad by Minnesota standards…LOL!!  That night they started to talk about more snow!!  Geezz…..isn’t this Arizona!!  So when we got up this morning (Friday) there was even more than the day before.

I took Max to the dog park so I could take his leash off and he could do his rabbit routine!!  He also likes it when I throw snowballs at him!!  We did ok and as I sit in the laundry room it is melting like crazy and blue sky is actually peaking through.

Sedona did up with a foot and Flagstaff almost 3 feet.  Payson, which is the city we drive through up and over the mountains if we want to take the scenic drive to Phoenix got between 3-4 feet.  The road to and out of Payson is closed, but would expect once the plows can get out it will clean up fast.

Thursday night was also Cork and Canvas night.  The project tonight was an elephant.  This is what the artist did as our example.

I am by far an artist and this is how my turned out!!  YUCK!!!  The only part I like is the flowers.  I told the teacher that maybe I would cover the tusks in flowers because those look awful!!

David and our friends, Matt and Aletta decided to go rouge and do their own interpretation finding images on the internet.  This was David’s — the top is the actual image he found and the bottom is his interpretation.

Our friends Matt and Aletta are very creative — these are theirs:

Maybe the trick is that I need more wine??  I didn’t think I liked the giraffe I did….but seeing my elephant, I now like my giraffe!!

TIFN – stay dry
