Looking back I see that February 22nd was my last post!!! So I am definitely way behind and so much to write about. A lot has happened in the last 2 months.
First, do I have a good excuse for not posting? I have thought and thought and just can’t come up with something that would make someone say “oh that makes sense why there have not been updates!” I am thinking it is just hard sometimes to realize that now when I am on the laptop it is for pure enjoyment, no longer work. Not that I did not like work, I really enjoyed what I was doing at Robinson and really miss the people that I worked with. But it is just a deja vu kind of moment especially since it is the same laptop that I used for the last 5 years at Robinson. It was old enough to no longer be supported so everything was wiped out and I got a “like new” laptop. We have been friends for a long time and have been through a lot so I should be more than happy to jump on and write. It may be old, and not always hold a charge, which doesn’t make it quite as portable if it has to be plugged in all the time. Still none of that is any good excuse so I will stop trying to make excuses and just catch up. 🙂
If you are ever camping in the Camp Verde area, make sure you check out Verde River RV Park in Camp Verde. As I have posted in the past, there are many activities that they coordinate and the place has great amenities. Every Wednesday is a dinner, that each person pays a very minimal amount and the food has always been great. Wednesday, March 13th, Carrie, the park manager, did not have her usually helpers – Steve and Susie since they were in Phoenix. Carrie asked if we would consider helping and I volunteered David also. The menu for the evening was shishkabobs…..chicken and steak and all the veggies. Turned out to be a full afternoon of chopping and cutting and putting on bamboo sticks for the cooking. David ended up doing the cooking and although the food was a little late to serve all seemed to really enjoy.
That weekend was the St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the campground. They provided green beer and also had Irish Whiskey tasting. There was a live band that was very good and played a great mix of music. The food was also great — corned beef, cabbage and carrots with a dessert.
But probably the biggest event that took place these last couple of months was that we bought a house!! 🙂 More about that in the next post.
