As I am getting ready to pack up Leo the Laptop for the trip up to Minnesota, I thought it was time just for some random pictures from along these last few months of journey. It is starting to get HOT here, so definitely ready to head where it is a little cooler. We plan to leave tomorrow and head towards Utah (to see Arches NP), the Wyoming and South Dakota, getting back to Big Lake sometime on Monday.
Random Stuff

As we went for our walks, we saw more than one vehicle that had a light under it like this truck above. We thought, well it can’t be that cold that it needs the heat…they must really love their vehicle. Then we asked…turns out rats like to get up into engines of vehicles that are parked outside. The light seems to deter them. The people that own this truck had damage done twice by rats before they added the light below. They said what they had to pay for repairs, they could have built a garage! Some people have the lights on all the time, some use motion lights to only turn on when needed. It was very strange.

When I saw the above sink configuration in a rest stop, it just seemed wrong. The electricity of the hand dryer right next to the running water?
With Jackie working for Kemps, I am also on the lookout for unique and unusual cow stuff. The first is a Cow Yoga calendar! Who knew that cows needed that relaxation technique. The 2nd is a cow painted on the side of the grocery store. I would hate to be near that cow when it released its flatulence. 🙂
Driving in and out of Arizona and other states, we would encounter winding roads like are showing on the above GPS screens. It is always interesting to look out the window and see the road that you are going to drive on, or that you have just driven. And I always have to chuckle a little seeing the Runaway Truck signs on the down hill portion. We have never actually seen a truck in there, but have seen tire marks a couple of times so I guess it is used!

When you drive as many miles as we have over the last 7 months, you see some strange things on the road, that make you stop and take it in! The first one was when we were driving through Kansas — they have stockyards that are right next to the highway with hundreds and hundreds of cows (my dad would probably say tousands and tousands of cows if he saw it..) and the stink of these cows is overwhelming!! David is trying to drive and cover up his nose at the same time!! How people can live in that area is unbelievable!!
The next one was a tunnel we had to drive through when the GPS took us in the wrong direction. There was barely any space between the extended mirrors and the wall of the tunnel.
The 3rd one is a sight we have seen a few times on the freeway. They are transporting a wind turbine blade along the highway. When you look up at those turbines along the freeway the sense of their size is somewhat distorted until you get next to one that is being transported. They really are pretty cool to see!!
One thing we have quickly learned about Arizona is that the sunsets are AMAZING!! There are so often so many colors — yellow, orange, pink, purple, etc. I am not sure if the mountains add another level of brilliance to the sunsets, but so many are incredible. If you ever get to AZ be sure you take the time to enjoy a sunset or two.
The above picture does not need much explanation other than YUCK!!! This was on a local Saturday morning show and they were trying to explain the beauty of these bugs, but looking at the screen all I heard was blah-blah-blah…..LOL How could anyone hold one of these????
Well Leo the Laptop says good night for a week or so as he is packed up in the back seat of the truck. Will check back in from Minnesota.

And of course some grandkids random pictures….
