Hello all and Happy Friday!! Hopefully for those of you in MN the weather is not too bad. I heard that this January broke a record for number of gray days!!! YUCK!!! Minnesotans are so hearty!! We had 2 consecutive days of gray and I thought that was awful!! Hang in there…Spring will be there soon!!
Visitors
This week, David’s brother, Dick and their book club friend, Bill have been visiting for the week. They are like the Three Stooges (Larry, Moe and Curly Joe), but more science, nerdy types, rather than slap stick comedians. So their nickname is “Three Nuetrinos” – their name…not mine…and in case you need to know what a Nuetrino is, here you go: “a neutral subatomic particle with a mass close to zero and half-integral spin, rarely reacting with normal matter. Three kinds of neutrinos are known, associated with the electron, muon, and tau particle”. Aren’t you glad you wondered? LOL Now you have learned something today, and if it makes sense to you, please let me know! Their goal for the week was to see and talk about as much science as they could! They all belong to a cosmology book club where the discussions are way beyond my mind!! They did go to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff and the telescope lens grinding at the University of Arizona in Tucson! Plus there were many living room discussions while watching You Tubes that included topics that would make Einstein proud! Max and I retreated to our room and used my thrift shop reading chair to work on diamond painting. And this is the Tree Neutrinos while at breakfast at Creama one morning!
Yesterday the sunrise was really amazing — the clouds were at first pinkish and then more white.

Northern Arizona really suits us much better than the sourthern part. It can be cool in the morning, but by 10 am we can sit on the deck and enjoy the warmth of the sun. But when it is gray it can be much cooler than what you would expect. And actually this week there was a day where it was snowing up in the hills of Jerome.

But even though it can do that up in the hills, we really don’t get any down in the valley…or if we do it would be very little. But the best is that it does not get unbearably hot in the northern part, which is what I really like.
Passing
As many know, last Sunday was when Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi and 7 of their friends passed away in a helicopter crash. Even though some people may say why make a big deal of Kobe, he is not really a friend to all, but more a “star” and someone that may or may not exhibit the kind of person others should strive to be. My son-in-law is a huge Kobe fan, and was really sad about the news. We all have our heroes/mentors that we admire but may never actually meet, so news like this can be difficult to hear. But maybe it is also a time to remember what is important — family, friends and those around us. This is a picture of Caley and Jermar when they went to the Laker/Timberwolves game. Kobe did inspire Jermar to excel in basketball, but more importantly how to inspire the young men he coaches to be a full rounded, well respected human beings, hand in hand with their basketball presence. And maybe that is the inspiration he got from Kobe.

I did see this posted on Facebook from Snappshots.com (Missy Snapp) and I think it brings some of this in perspective:
“But I don’t know if my life will be long. I don’t know if I’ll get to see everything I want to see. Every graduation. Every wedding. Every birth. None of us know. The challenge is to live like the fog is coming. To hug the people within our reach. To be a legend. Because to a few, we are. And to love our people like they are legends. Because to us – they are.”
Javelina and Golf
So we have a ring doorbell that also chimes when someone comes in our driveway. It went off the other day so David looked out the door just as he saw the back end of a javelina cross our driveway. We watched it walk around our deck picking through the stones probably looking for lunch.

It was kind of fun to see its quiet quest to mind its own business and look for food. As we were standing on the deck, we heard “FORE” and looked up just before a golf ball dropped about 2 feet off of our deck!! You might be able to see it among the rocks here.

Since we have been here we have not seen a golf ball even come close to us! The tee box is quite a ways down in the valley from our deck! In the picture below, it is the tee box to the right of where these guys are standing.

This week Jaxen achieved a new milestone at day care!! He took his nap on the big kids cot and didn’t even use his nook!! He is growing up so fast!!

Well hope you are all having a good week and will have a good weekend as we head into the Super Bowl weekend!! Should be a good game, I hope! Sorry, this blog is kind of boring this week….LOL…can’t always be full of excitement and fun, I guess!! 🙂
