An Inside View

Today I am writing my blog from inside the house.  😦  I know, I should not complain and really my view from the dining room table is not so bad….

But it is always nicer updating at the table on the deck.  Oh and speaking of the deck, the other reason why I cannot be out there….

In the middle of deck renovation.  That brown area is not a rug, but it is the last section that needs sanding.  And you can only imagine how much dust that sanding generates, so although David has been vacuuming behind Jeff’s sanding, we will have to power wash all of the furniture out there once the sanding is done to get all of the dust off of the furniture!!  So not even a good place to sit out there!!  It will really be nice when it is done, which the hope is before Jackie, Jermar and Jaxen get here on the 24th!!  ….but we all know how renovations can go.

And talking about the weather, thunderstorms rolled in last night with some of the craziest looking clouds.

There was thunder in the distance, but we really did not see any lightning in our area.  But when I went out for a walk this morning, the mountains were covered in snow!

As much as most of the Minnesotans probably really would rather not see any more snow and that Spring would just arrive, it did look pretty here this morning.  I am sure once the sun is out tomorrow it will not last long at all!

Yard and Wall Art

Today when we walked, I decided to be more observant of what yard or wall art people have around here.  It seems like everyone has their own unique style of how they decorate their yards and houses.  It is kind of fun to really look rather than just pass by being oblivious to what is out there.

First many people have the almost obligatory Javelinas or quails (Gambel’s Quail, I believe with the funky curl on the top of their head)

And then there are the very many metal flowers….which I am sure survive much better in the Arizona climate!  🙂

And lots of people have wind chimes….I did not caption any on my walk, but these are the 2 I currently have.

And there are some that probably have some story attached?  Although this coyote seems to be new to this yard and the timing must not be strange since people are reporting seeing coyotes here in the park even during the day.  We can hear them howling at night, but being around during the day seems kind of creepy.  I certainly will not let Max be outside on his own!!

Maybe this yard art keeps the coyotes away!!!???!!!

Then this one is interesting…the picture is not really very good, but the rock sign says “Welcome to Angel Haven”, yet it has a angry looking lion guarding the driveway! (although he almost looks like he is smiling in this picture!)

yard3

Does this look like a lot of rocks?  These people have an ATV (of course a RZR!!!) and they often go up into the mountains and collect unique little rocks — this is just a small corner of their yard!

This cactus is somewhat unusual up here in northern Arizona…you seem them more numerous as you get closer to Phoenix, but I thought this looked really great!

yard2

This was interesting….and there must be a good story behind it.  Chickens with golf balls for eggs!!  🙂  Now we are on a golf course so I assume these people may be golfers.

That did remind me of the time my dad was living with my sister as he was going through home hospice.  I would every week go to her house and let her leave to go out and enjoy some none 24 hour care of dad.  Dad and I were sitting in her living room and he said to me that he thought they were growing something in their basement.  I had been in the basement and had not seen anything beyond the usual washer, dryer, treadmill, storage boxes, etc., but I quizzed him further in asking what he said they were growing down there…he said “Chickens!!” and was totally serious about this!  A funny little tidbit from my dad that I will always remember as his mind was starting to play tricks on him!  😦

Back to the art discussion….digression took over there….I would say almost everyone has some type of art on their house walls, and they can be very different…some southern type art…some art pieces….and then our new addition of the purple (of course) gecko on the side of our house!

I think I could probably focus (LOL) on taking better pictures.  But I am usually walking Max with his leash in hand, and quickly trying to take a picture and not have him yank his leash and make me drop my phone.  I will try to be more aware in the future!  🙂

No new pictures of Jaxen to share….or any of the grandkids!!!  😦  Jaxen’s mom has been traveling the last few days — last weekend to the Jason Aldean concert with Caley up in Fargo and this morning left for Milwaukee for a couple of days for work!  I texted her and said I have no new pictures of Jaxen!!!   LOL  Well next time I am sure!
