Creature 1

Yesterday I had to go to the grocery store and I like to take the back way through Clarkdale and then through Old Town.  That is a more fun drive plus not as many crazy drivers.  I think as we get older crazy drivers are more numerous!  🙂

So I stopped at Violette’s to get a little breakfast sandwich.  This is the Violette’s location that is in a train caboose, so very small inside, just enjoy room to order and then either take their selections to go or they eat outside on the patio.

The little red caboose is this location.  The woman holding the nummy looking pastry is Amber, the owner of this Violettes and the Violettes pastry location in Old Town Cottonwood.  (Photo:  AZ Highways)  When the Neutrinos were here for their visit we actually went to the pastry location 3 times!!  My brother-in-law said there was nothing like that in Apple Valley and LOVED that place.  Amber actually named her bakeries after her daughter, Violette.  If you are ever in the area, you must stop by the pastry location in Old Town and meet Amber!  You can tell by the way she talks about her pastries, that she makes fresh every day, that she has a business that is her true passion!  But I digress…wouldn’t you be disappointed if I didn’t?  I should rename this site to Digress Ventures…LOL

So I was sitting reading my book, eating the amazing breakfast sandwich and sipping on my mocha when a car pulled up along the street and did a quick U-turn to park on the other side.  I think that maneuver distracted me from my book for a moment.  I looked up to see the driver getting out and pulling a fairly large dog behind her on a leash.  What next stepped out of the little car produced a second look from me!  It was a goat!!  A GOAT!!!  With a nice little collar around its neck.  I quickly went to grab my phone camera so I could capture a picture, so you all do not think the higher allitude has gone to my head, but the goat was blocked by the car.  The woman moved over to the next little shop on the street and then the goat peaked out.  Not super easy to see, but if you enlarge you can see the little face, with the collar/sweater on the other side of the bumper in the back.

When they did go to the next store front, they went in the door — all three of them:  The lady, the dog and the goat!!  Hopefully that goat is house trained!!  🙂

Creature 2

I always let Max out the back door when it is time for bed.  But lately, with the coyote sightings, I keep a leash on him thinking of a coyote comes wandering up I will yank Max back in the house by his leash!  LOL  So when I came back in the garage, I could hear a scratching noise on the side of the truck, on the same side as the garbage can.  And I crept over closer and it really sounded like a sound coming in from the garbage can and there was NO WAY I was going to open up that can to see what might be in there.  In the morning, Jeff came over to work on the deck and I asked him if he would check to see what was in there.  At first David told me they already looked and it was a BIG RAT!!  They asked if I wanted to look….and I first asked if it could get out, and they said no the can was too tall!  So I opened the cover and cowering in the corner was this little mousy creature, maybe 2 inches long so very small.  It was a long pointy nose and big eyes.  Everyone on here is probably too young to know the Spy vs Spy cartoons that were in the Mad Magazines, but I immediately thought of those 2 creatures.  This is a picture (pointy nose and big eyes)!!!

My first instinct would have been to mush that little creature, but instead Jeff captured it and released it out in the desert area behind the houses.

Since I was lax on Jaxen pictures over the last couple of posts, today I have some with little stories to go along with each.

He apparently got a hold of his mom’s phone (I am thinking with some assistance from his mom…LOL) and took a couple of selfies!!  (Most of us when our kids were that age “selfie” was not even a word!!!)

And since Mom was travelling for work a couple of days, he decided that he would step in and be daddy’s helper by trying to help him close the back gate.

And apparently the story behind this one, is that he decided to through a little fit and tried to throw a toy as part of his fit!  Instead he stepped back and fell in to his bucket of cars!  🙂

And before Mom left for her work trip, she was sitting with Jaxen and let him play with the tape measure and a little boo-boo happened!  😦

Mom should be home today from work trip, although heading to Boston next week and our house the week after.  I am sure that little boy will be so delighted to see his mom home!!

Well hope everyone is having a good week!  The snow that I shared earlier this week on the hills has not somewhat disappeared as I expected.  This picture shows the moon setting over the mountain this morning and you can see that the snow has lessened.
