Books and Stuff

I think I have said it before, but our town (Cottonwood, AZ) has a great variety of thrift shops. Love to go in there and look for things for the house but more head over to the book section. There is always a book or two that I know I need. And when I go on the right day where it is buy 3 get one free, I end up with at least 4 books! As I indicated, I have read a lot of books over the last couple of months, especially with the stay at home order. But now, I am only down to 9 books that I have not read yet, so I hope the thrift or used book stores become “essential businesses” pretty soon!! I have a library card in MN, but not here, but will probably do that next year so I can use that option also.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a book by Kristin Hannah, True Colors, which was very good. It is a hard cover, which I rarely get, but again, a bargain is a bargain!! While reading this book, in the pages, I found 2 things from 2011 probably from a previous owner. One a Southwest Airlines confirmation ($141.90), but without any departing city or destination city. That was interesting! More interesting I found a hand written letter from Lindsey to Maggie, dated 3/31/11. Sounds like Maggie has a new boyfriend, Cody! 🙂 It was kind of fun discovery — something you may chance upon with used books!!

You can tell it is Spring in Arizona, the trees are budding and there are so many desert vegetation flowers popping out.

As Max and I rounded a corner, we saw this…

I was sure the neighbor added an Arizona Quail statute to the top of the red stone rock….but then it moved!!! 🙂 These are the strangest looking birds — they are called Gambel’s Quail.

They are really ground type birds and run very fast, especially when anything approaches them. I have seen them fly a very little bit, but you could tell it was not their natural mode of transportation! Always fun to spot here!!

Sounds like Minnesota has had some great weather the last few days. Of course I have some Jaxen pictures to share — he loves being outside!! Two of his favorite things? Sports and Cheese!!
