Yellowstone and Beyond

Leaving Utah Lake State Park, we traveled towards West Yellowstone.  Near the west entrance was an RV Park – Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park.  The site was nice, although more campers there than we have seen in other campgrounds.

In the morning we headed to the west entrance so we could drive around Yellowstone before we head up to our next campground.  About 4 years ago, David purchased the Senior Pass for all National Parks for $30 just before they went up to $80.  With the number of national parks we have visited we have definitely got our money’s worth — even if we would have had to pay the higher fee, it would have been worth it.  So it is so easy, just show the Senior Pass and on through the gate you can go.

It was not too far in to the park, when we saw our first bison.  They are so majestic to see and both times we have been to Yellowstone we were lucky to see some slowly walking along the road.  This time was not a disappointment!!

The weather was so nice, we had our windows open, so Max was on my lap looking out the window when this one was right next to the truck!!

I was holding Max’s collar to make sure he did not try to jump out and confront this new four legged creature!!  And then I waited for him to start barking, but instead he just huffed and puffed at the bison….I think he was too worried about making any barking noises.  The sights along the way were so beautiful and always amazing!

Not surprising there was a good amount of snow at the top of some of the mountains.

One of the pluses of having the trailer is that we could stop where we wanted for lunch and did not have to go to any restaurants, if we found any open.  We pulled over next to the lake in Yellowstone and had great views!!

The rest of the drive provided additional stunning scenery.

That night we stayed at a great RV campground – Yellowstone’s Edge outside of Livingston, MT.  It was right on the Yellowstone River!!  The river is very high right now and moving very fast!!

Last night we stayed at a KOA in Miles City, MT and tonight at a KOA in Bismarck, ND.  Nothing really remarkable other than I forgot tonight was Friday and the weekenders are here, so it is definitely more crowded and an interesting crowd!  🙂

Stay safe.  Stay healthy!
