Note: So I started this blog on Friday, the 13th, but things got in the way of my finishing it…so I will keep the 13th stuff and move on from there! 🙂 These days are crazy!
I wonder how many people are really superstitious about Friday the 13th? You know the ladders, black cats, umbrella open in the house, crack in the sidewalk kind of superstitious? I think we had a black cat when I was a kid, so they never really bothered me — I don’t think any of the others make me second guess at all. But I have to be honest I am superstitious around certain things — really mainly sports. When I played softball, I always wore shorts (even in the Fall League with snow flakes flying in the air) (and yes, you can slide in shorts — I had some pretty good raspberries to prove it!!), I always used the same batting glove, same bat, and if I EVER forgot my glove??? I might as well have stayed home….so same glove was a must!!
Sometimes I can be superstitious when it comes to professional sports. I remember the 1987 World Series, when the Twins won, I was pretty particular on how I watched the games and attended the one I was lucky enough to get tickets to. I have often been superstitious around the Vikings. I have a coffee cup…..

that has gone with me everywhere when we travel during the football season. I drink my morning coffee, on Vikings games, from that cup. Even this year…I started using it, they won, one game and then kept losing so the cup is now far back in the cupboard, since I decided I needed to stop using it to see if it would change the Vikings luck!! And it did!! They have won since I stopped using it and hidden it in the back corner of the cupboard. So yes, sports can make me superstitious at times! 🙂
I know my last blog skimmed over the fact that it was Election Day. Can you believe where we are with the election at this point in time? Some people think we have a new President elect others believe we still do not know. It is crazy, but par for the course for the year 2020, I think!!
So what else has been happening….my granddaughter Erin, was named Rookie of the Year for Cross Country and actually made a Letter!! She tried hurdles last year, but Cross Country is definitely her niche!!

What a fun life long sport to excel in!! Very proud of Erin and hope next year we can catch a couple of her runs before we head back to AZ in the Fall!!
Speaking of Erin, she and her sister Emily decided to go to a park and just take some fun pictures. You can see how long Erin’s legs are and how she is taller than her older sister!

So much fun when you have a big sister that can drive you places!! Last week Erin and Emily decided to pay a visit with the Larkins and enjoy dinner with them. Jaxen was shy with them for the 1st 30 minutes or so…he had not seen them since April, and that was social distancing, but he soon opened up to both of them when he realized that they would be more than willing to rough and tumble with him!! 🙂

Sounds like the afternoon was full of laughs and giggles and a good time was had by all!!
As I have indicated in the past, the sun rises here are so great to watch as they come over the red hills of Sedona. But since we have been here, there has been little cloud cover so we have not seen any colorful sunrises or sunsets. But last week, we finally got a little bit of rain, which made for some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. We actually had quite the thunderstorm when we were out on the deck watching the storm and the lighting was like a ball of light and then immediate thunder — loudest I have ever heard! Even fried our modem. But those storms helped produced these in the morning and at night!

Still battling a head cold, which is very stubborn. So hopefully this week things will turn around with that! Hard to believe Thanksgiving will be next week. Sounds like it may be quiet for some family celebrations, but hopefully people will still be able to enjoy some family connections, even if it is through Zoom as an option!
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!!

Some fun pictures!
