Since we had the trailer winterized, we decided we would take a little pre-trip before our trip to Minnesota to make sure all is good. We are certainly glad that we did. I reserved a site at a KOA in Kingman, Arizona — KOAs all have full hookups and we knew we would want that and we knew we were close to Lake Havasu, which was a place we wanted to check out.
First the hot water heater was not put back together the way it should have so we were able to get that up and running with a few tools, the way it should be. But more important we found a leak in the water hose that goes to the outdoor kitchen. You know we were really not keen on having this little outdoor kitchen, but the model we wanted and last year with the short time period we had, we went ahead and got it, knowing that we would probably not use that outdoor kitchen much at all.
Anyway…the leak…LOL….this is our outdoor kitchen…

The water hoses are behind the pull out, and impossible to get to. We first tried taping up the leak, which we did by me crawling under the camper to reach in under the drawer. We also added tie wraps thinking that would hold even better. Well we turned the water back on and the leak continued, which was spraying water on to the top of the kitchen shelf and all over the floor. And the only way to turn off the water is by turning off the water to the whole camper. So we did another McGuyver fix and put in a tin foil trough so any water would go in and down the tin foil to the ground. This is a closer look to the fix.

As you can see it works, since there is water dripping down. So we only turn on the full camper water as we need it and let the water drip. It is a hassle turning the water on and off, but best we can do. We did call a mobile RV service to try to get them to come out and fix it, but they did not return the call. I will have to say I think Jayco took some short cuts with these water lines, because as you pull the drawer in and out the lines naturally kink and eventually the kink gets a break in in. Looking on one of the Jayco Facebook pages, I found a number of people that had the same issue and many that ended up replacing the lines with better water hoses. That is what we will do when we get back to the Cottonwood house and maybe even add turn off valves so the water can be turned off just to this location. We are certainly glad we did not encounter this on our long trip back to MN.
But we did enjoy some fun time yesterday in that we drove to Lake Havasu, which was a really nice drive. We kind of hung out in Lake Havasu State Park, which was right on the water and we could watch lots of book traffic going into the channel under the London Bridge and also enjoy a little beach time with toes in the sand and water. We will definitely make a trip back to this state park in the future.

As we were leaving the state park, we stopped at a Cactus Garden, which provided a number of the local cactus plants — some were very interesting. It was 102 when we were there so we did not stay too long.

At one end of the garden was a walk up to a scenic overlook that provided an overlook of Lake Havasu — glad that I make the trek up there because the scene and pictures were worth it!!

For a weekday, there sure was a lot of boat traffic on the water. Guess with people having the option to Work from Home, they can also do Work from Boat too! 🙂 We even drove by a little community, where they had their house, usually a car port and more often a boat port with some pretty fancy boats. Guess that is what Lake Havasu is all about — boats, boats and more boats.
It was cooler back at the camp grounds…our water leak was still there, the water leak fairy did not come and fix it at all!! 🙂 We enjoyed burgers on the grill and the wind picked up which made it for a beautiful evening. This campgrounds is ok…rather dusty, but again good for when we want and need a full hook up.
It is rather fun to just people watch at a campground. There are really some interesting characters…as I assume people think we are too. I observed one young lady that took her laptop with her everywhere she went…not just carrying it, but having it open so not sure if she was on a video call or making you tubes, but it was very interesting…even in to the bathroom, and around the fire ring…LOL…just interesting.
Well hope all is good and people are staying healthy and safe. We will get our 2nd Moderna shot on Friday — kind of feels like we are being let out on parole! 🙂

And yes the boys are growing up every day….that little 5 lb peanut is not longer little, but is finally looking like an almost 3 month old!!
