NC and on to Florida

Yes, I seem to neglect this blog….not any good excuses, but will try to catch up with things at least a few days of our travels. So far we have traveled through 10 states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida — our final state. Seems like a lot of driving, but most we just drove through.

We did stay in Raleigh, North Carolina for a couple of nights so we could go and see Jeff Dunham. If you haven’t heard of him, he is a ventriloquist and has a number of puppets that he uses in each show. He definiately had me laughing!!! He likes to find someone in the audience to focus some of his ad lib jokes on and boy, did he hit the jackpot in Raleigh. Adam stood up to go to the bathroom which was an immediate flag for Jeff and his current puppet to pick on. As Adam was gone, Jeff asked his girlfriend what line of work he was in. Turns out he is in the POOP business…LOL…at a plant that takes unclean water and turns it in to clean water. This gave Jeff and his puppet Achmad, at least 30 minutes of new material. It was amazing and Adam was a very good sport about it all. He put on a 2-1/2 hour show with no intermission!!! At the end he comes out and throws out t-shirts and little stuffed animals to the crowd. I was very lucky to catch “Peanut”!!

It was definitely a great evening of good laughter. We stayed in an AirBNB in Raleigh, which was very nice and a quick drive to the venue.

I did try to take pictures of the Welcome To…signs as we passed into a new state, but was not always successful. This is the Georgia welcome sign that was one of the more colorful ones.

As we were traveling through some of the back roads, which was unusual since we would tend to stay on the freeways where Tesla chargers are more prevelant, I did see the following sign at one of the local businesses: If the lights are one, then we are open! That was someone that set his own hours!!

This is always one of my favorite bridges….some of our first palm trees….and when we hit our highest temp on the road.

Just outside of Jacksonville, we stated at a great hotel where it was one of the first times we could sit outside for breakfast in the morning. When I took Max for his morning walk, seeing this sign, we all quickly realized we were not in Kansas anymore…

I did ask our server if this was a true sign or just a way to keep people from being tempted to wade into the water. She said just 2 weeks before, she saw an alligator swimming in there…it was a small one, but to me any alligator is an alligator!!

Cocoa Beach

We had a great AirBNB in Cocoa Beach. It had a great yard and was right on one of the canals of the Banana River. Often manatees will be seen in the channel, but we did not see any. Did see some big fish, but more enjoyed the scenary, the quiet area for reading and the great walking areas close by. Max and I walked every day and then I would often repeat the path and go to the local Starbucks for fresh coffee. The beach was only 1/2 mile and we walked that a couple of times also.

My next blog I will continue a little more on Cocoa Beach, the launch we got to see and the trip to NASA and the successful use of Rover to find a day care sitter for Max. Right now we are near Orlando and will get to our AirBNB tomorrow and will stay there for 4 days.

Will try to be better on updating, even just to help my memory as I have already forgotten some of the things we have done and were reminded when I was writing this blog and grabbing the pictures. Nice memories!!

Take care

Oh, and of course…. Jenny, if you are reading this, send me some pictures of the girls so I can add them there. I will definitely make them smile for the camera on April 15th.
