Day 3 and still not glowing….LOL
So today went fine. It is really a quick process although today I asked the technologist to describe more what is going on when I am in the machine. So when they start they are actually doing a CT scan and then the radiation itself takes place and it really is maybe 30 seconds to a minute of the buzz saw like noise. Done with that and it was back into the changing room.
We decided to try a different place for lunch…the purple goat. Purple being my favorite color of course we needed to try this out. If you are ever in the Rochester area this is a place you should try. The food was great and we will definitely go back again.
About 6:30 tonight I got a phone call from Park Nicollet and it was Dr. Chen’s nurse, Shelby. They had received the message I sent to Dr. Chen and she wanted to share with me Chen’s opinion. She did review all of the Findings from the PET scan and at this point agrees with the plans going forward. First addressing the sarcoma in the thigh and doing the biopsy of the one node during the surgery and see what the results are. Dr. Chen did also request that Mayo send her the actual scans so she can look them over. They should get those tomorrow and Chen will review and Shelby indicated that if she had any concerns after reviewing the scans that they would contact me. I definitely feel better knowing that Dr. Chen agrees. Shelby did remind Dr. Chen that it would be awhile (December 21) before the biopsy and she again indicated that she agreed with the waiting time. It was great to get that confirmation with the oncologist that I worked with through the lymphoma and have been seeing for 15+ years.
Ted again is not happy tonight with being zapped with those radiation beams. But I know that means things are working. As the technologist said “we want him to be very unhappy, until we take him out and then we will all be happy!!”
I did some more processing of the knowledge of most likely being in the hospital over Christmas. I already decided when we get back home that I am going to start playing Christmas music on the keyboard. After our anniversary celebration (50 years), I am going to start organizing my Christmas decorations. I thought what would be better than to come back home to the hospital and seeing the whole house in a festive mode!! I am thinking we can plan a fun double celebration at our house for the successful surgery and Christmas festivities. Of course this is how I feel today…so need to keep the positive thoughts going. Emotions can be so interesting on this journey!!
Tomorrow will be Day 4 and one day at a time!!
Take care!!!
