Weekend…no radiation. :-)

So originally I was going to title this “Misery Loves Company”, but then I decided to Google the origin of that phrase. And what I was thinking when using that title was not the meaning I was intending. The phrase originates from “implies that people that are unhappy or even in pain tend to take comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their suffering by making others miserable”. (Source: grammarist.com). This was not at all my intentions. This is what I was thinking. Friday, after radiation, I thought good I have 2 days where Ted will not puff up like a pufferfish! He can relax and leave me alone for the weekend. But then I decided I might as well get my flu shot…oh and the Covid shot too! Thought might as well get them both done at the same time!!! Well, Saturday when my bones and muscles ached in addition to the soreness in my thigh, I thought “misery loves company” because the one pain now had a lot of company! And I certainly would not take ANY comfort in having others being miserable…so I knew that was the wrong phrase, but the thought was there.

It somewhat reminds me of the saying “Bless Her Heart!” I always thought that would be a compliment to someone and I think those of us in the north probably believe that. But talking to my friend, Ashley, who is a true southerner from Tennessee, told me it is really not a nice thing when you say it to someone. You know, when you encounter someone that is far from nice? Now you can quietly say to them “Bless Your Heart!” And little do they know that you are quietly cursing them out! 🙂

I do want to comment that it was a beautiful Fall day here in Minnesota…high of 57 and sunny! If you would ask a Minnesotan why they can possible live in this state, today would come to mind. So many people are outside, walking, working in the yard and just feeling very blessed that we get to have some more nice days with thoughts of snow far away!! And the Vikings won too!!!

Tomorrow will be back to the daily zapping routine. Ted will be able to puff up again and show us how he gets angry. As the radiologist said, the swelling shows us that it is working. We want to make Ted mad.

Take care and think of something to be thankful for today!
