Today during radiation, halfway during the treatment, I reached the half way point for treatment!!! YEA!! Only 7 days left and then finally done with this part of the treatment.
Monday, my thigh was doing good, not really any swelling, and not really any pain. Guess the 2 days of no zapping made Ted the Tumor happy. Although Monday night I just had to Google “Does Radiation really work?” It just seems like I am in the machine for only 2 minutes or so and how could so little time really do any good? When I went in on Tuesday, I told the radiation technologist what I Googled. She really laughed hard about that!! She said and what did Google say….I told her it said of course it is supposed to work. I told her it just seems like I am in the machine for so little time….she said if you want we could let you stay longer in the machine!! :-). I could just see what the insurance company would think of that…patient wants to stay longer in the machine so she feels its working…so extra charge!!! Insurance would say patient is responsible for that payment!! But then after Googling that I think Ted has decided he will show me exactly how things are working and how angry he is getting on being zapped. The swelling has come back and there is definitely pain. So I guess it does work!! 🙂
Tomorrow is the weekly checkin with the radiation oncologist and I don’t really expect anything new coming from that appointment. They just want to check to make sure I am not having any unexpected reactions or symptoms.
Finished a book “Run Rose Run” that was written by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. Kind of a fun book and you could see the influences within the book from each individual author. Just started “Our Missing Hearts” by Celeste Ng. I have read a couple of books by that author so I am looking forward to it.
I know once radiation is done, then surgery will be coming up next. And then we may have to address those 3 lymph nodes (Larry the Lymph Nodes and his 2 pals). But I am trying to stay thinking about One Day At a Time and look at each day with something that I am thankful for…big or small. I am trying to make patience and gratitude my focus…can’t promise it will also work, but I can try. Today I am thankful for the Mayo ice packs! 🙂
Take care and enjoy!
