Good Morning!! Since I got up 2-1/2 hours early so I could have my little sip of black coffee thought I should capture my morning thoughts before this big day…as Caley said in her text to me last night #byeted. (Some day I need these young people to explain to me what hashtag word means)
After having my precious sip of caffeine, then I did the sterilized wash again….remember the LPN came out in me. First a comment…it is called “Hibiclens” and it is pink, so in my creative mind I was calling it Hibiscus and was sure I could smell the sweet flower. LOL. One has to dream. Well that was done and this time I remembered that I was supposed to “pat” myself dry! Should I ask to see the statistics on if a patient “pats” or regular dries oneself?? And even worse, no deodorant!! Well someone better put up a sign outside of the operating room that says “Enter at your own risk…no deodorant patient inside!” Another funny instruction…be sure to brush your teeth!! Really someone would plan to go to the hospital, early in the morning, knowing they were going to be in surgery for a number of hours and NOT brush their teeth??!!?? For sure that caution sign would need to be up!!
As I am sitting here the house is so quiet. Pretty funny to say when there are two little young men sleeping downstairs. Quiet houses in the morning are just the best…usually best for reading!!
I did put another pair of my Christmas socks on this morning. Kind of useless because we will get there and getting in to a lovely hospital gown will be the first order of business. Although one of t he doctors told me that their gowns were purple…we will see!! But having the socks on is my own little fun Christmas spirit. When I was working in the office, and even when I worked at home remotely, I always wore Christmas socks for the week heading up to Christmas. They are always packed in my sock drawer in their own special container (actually a plastic bag)!
Well better get this iPad packed away in my hospital bag so I can update you all when this procedure is over. Remember I will be under the good pain meds so excuse any nonsense that I may write. :-)
Take care of yourself and talk to you again from beautiful St. Mary’s Hospital in downtown Rochester! :-)
