Friday was ok…the pain still elevated, but seeing some improvement. OT came in and helped me figure out how to use the walker to get to the commode and the chair. This is going to take some getting used to. At first I could only tip toe my left leg, but now they say I can use it 50%, which is kind of hard to figure out what that might be. Guess until it hurts. Jason, Jen and David came to visit a couple of times. One time I chased them out because I was so tired! I did get a great flower arrangement from Marcia, she asked them to make it like a Christmas Tree, which they did! Nice to have that splash of color in the room.
You know I hate having to call a nurse every time I need to go to the bathroom. I just hate having to depend on someone and that I am taking up their time. Most of the nurses are fantastic, but Friday afternoon I had crabby nurse and it was like I pained her to ask for help. Then later I had to go to the bathroom and the nurse insisted that I use the toilet rather than the commode. So we shuffled in there and that was fine until I stood up to start walking out and blam I went right down on my but. So here we were the 2 of us and no way could I get up. Two other nurses came in and rescued us and thankfully one was the nursing supervisor and he said it would be better if we just use the commode. :-). Glad to hear him say that….the bathroom is tile and just seems a little slippery.
Today, as I may have said the pain seems more tolerable. Thinking about trying to go home with all of this is way overwhelming. Dr. Houdek said they would keep the immobilized on even when I go home. Getting everywhere in the house with the walker will be a challenge and probably entertaining. Still not much of an appetite today, so I hope that gets better.
Take care and smile at a stranger today!
