Monday Thoughts

Monday….really quite different when you are not working…you know its Monday, but you don’t know it’s Monday! Guess because it is MLK day and the stock market is closed, you are more aware that it is Monday. :-). At least the sun is peaking through the limited clouds and it actually looks like it will be sunny most of the day!

Last week, Thursday, I think, I was supposed to have the CT scan that Chen ordered. Well, insurance company needed more information from Chen so they moved it to tomorrow. On the 1st of year we changed from Humana to Blue Cross Blue Shield so really they are coming in on the middle of all of this, so I guess I understand they want to come up to speed on why the CT is needed. Actually I had nothing to do, being retired and all, so I decided I just wanted to have a CT scan for the fun of it.

Sitting here this morning, reading (new William Kent Krueger book) I have the Boca Chica You Tube Channel on…yes pretty nerdy…but the sound is of the waves that are crashing in on the site, so it is really a pretty cool background sound. Although it makes me want to be planning our Florida vacation, which is usually Feb/March, although with all this going on not sure if we will be able to do anything!! February 1 I will see the surgeon and they will change the leg brace to a knee bracket one so I think I will feel more mobile with that, plus I can start PT then too, so that will help. But maybe we can plan a FL trip but instead of traveling around FL like we have done in the past, we can just stay at one place and just relax while I keep up with my PT. At least that is my thoughts now to at least look forward to this possibility!

Leg is good today….was pretty sore yesterday and even the Chen prescription did not completely negate that pain. But last night we changed to ace and re fastened the brace and I think that helped a lot. We had a bandage over the sore of the drain site, held with tape and I think that was bothering my skin. It really seemed to have healed so we took that off and replaced with just a regular bandaid so maybe that was the issue.

Yesterday I had a babysitter over for the afternoon. LOL. (As Jaxen said, “Grandma you are not a baby!!”). David wanted to go to his brother’s birthday lunch, so Jackie came over and sat with me. He just did not feel comfortable leaving me alone….not sure if he thought I was going to jump up and start dancing in the living room, or what, but understand his caution. Imagine if I did something dumb like try to get up on my own and ended up falling. Not a pleasant thought so Jackie got to spend her precious Sunday afternoon keeping an eye on me. We did watch the Green Bay/Dallas game which was just amazing!! Not at all the outcome that I thought it would be as I am sure most of the football fans across the US were surprised too. Kind of fun to watch!

Very cold here…right now 7 below… so I good day to have an excuse to stay inside I guess. I still have little pangs of downness, but keeping busy really helps. The new square I am working on for the quilt has a much more difficult pattern that takes a little more concentration that single crochet, all along the line. Thankfully, Annie’s Kits include videos to help through the process step by step. And the person doing the video has the greatest southern accent so that makes you think even more “you can do this”!

Hope you are doing good, everyone! Stay sunny today!!
