I have been remiss….is that the right word?

Yes, that is the correct word…I just googled it! 🙂 So, yes, I have been very remiss. Last time I wrote I philosophized about how important legs are…I am quite the thinker. But things have progressed since that little mind dump.

I have been back to see both my oncologist and the orthopedic doc for recheck on the fracture in the fibula. First the orthopedic…it went fine, I know longer have to wear that brace and I go back in 4 weeks for another check and an x-ray. (It is almost getting to be that time!!)

The oncologist…seeing Dr. Chen is always a nice check in to hopefully get good news. And today we somewhat did in that the PET scan came back good. The lymph node in the groin is greatly reduced so that proves that the Rituxan is doing its job. And speaking of the Rituxan apparently it also likes my white blood cells. That blood count was the lowest they have ever seen for me, but not a big surprise with Rituxan. Maybe another check that it is doing its job. This could linger for awhile and I am supposed to stay away from sick people or going around any large crowds…like the State Fair…as if I would go to the State Fair with my walker!! Talk about major pedestrian congestion!! Not sure I would have lasted on that adventure. Dr. Chen even used the word “remission” which was fantastic to hear. I will go back in 4 weeks for another blood test and then again in 8 weeks for another blood test. Right around Halloween when the vampires are also out looking for blood.

Seems like I am finally getting down the road with doctor appointments!! YEA!! I will go back to Mayo I think at the end of October for MRI and doctor check. He still wants to keep the 3 months probably until the year anniversary and then maybe we will be able to extend the appointments out more.

I did message Dr. Houdek in Mayo to let him know that he should be getting the PET scans from Dr. Chen. He messaged me back and said he got them and all looked good to him too. He did ask me how I thought my healing was going and I did say I feel frustrated at times. And I think that is more my fault not my PT’s. I need to do more of the exercises at home so I am trying to remember that each day. It was really nice though that he would reach out and ask how I thought things were going. I don’t think I told him that I fractured my fibula…I will save that for when I see him again. I think he probably wonders what kind of patient he got himself in to with me!! LOL

Hang in there!

Take care!
