So the Minnesota meteorologists are keeping busy these last few days. They have been predicting for at least the last 5 days that tomorrow could be a doozy of a round of storms even here in the metro area. 4 out of 5 on the risk factor scale. We will see what happens. I know those storm chasers will hope for the worst but some garden variety thunderstorms would be just fine. Tomorrow I will be watching RyanHallY’all on You Tube as he tracks the storms across the states. He always has storm chasers on video to help add to the excitement. Jenny got me hooked on RyanHall and we will often text each other as we are watching. Yes, we are both kind of weather nerds…Jenny more than me because she knows all the science behind it (CAPE-Instability indicator, wind shear, humidity levels, steep lapse rates, warm front and dryline, etc.)
Today it has been 2 weeks since I have been battling this crazy cold! I blame it on the two little boys bringing every imaginable germ home from their schools. Like I say they are petri dishes filled with germs. It seems the boys don’t get sick very often…they just like to share the germs with their grandma. Last week I saw Chen and my WBC showed high levels of white cell count. She said you must be battling some infection (as I sat there coughing and wearing a mask)! She checked my lungs and sinus areas and said it should be gone in a week. Well, week later and still not gone, so we ventured off to Urgent Care. Park Nicollet Urgent Care has an option where you can “Save your Spot” in line. So I looked at the wait times and saved my spot and then knew we could take our time getting there. When I walked in it was an hour wait but my spot came up in less than 5 minutes. What a cool option.
That doctor took chest x-rays to make sure there was nothing in the lungs and they looked good. But she said almost 2 weeks is too long for this to hang on and she put me on (horse pill) antibiotics! And when I say “horse pill” they are like the size of a Minnesota June Bug!! Such fun to swallow! But it does seem to be working after a couple of days so I guess that is good news. Mornings are not good…you would think I have been smoking for 30 years. YUCK!!
Since I was on antibiotics and it was outdoors we decided to still go to Jaxen’s Flag Football. There are 5 kids in the game at a time, playing both offense and defense. Fun to watch!! Jaxen did make a touchdown today…but neither I or Jackie were camera ready. Here are some pics of him playing offense.

Often he is more focused on his mouth guard and how it bugs him….LOL…or trying to walk on the lines or jump over the lines, but he does seem to have fun being out there. Next week we will go to a couple of his baseball games. Since we may start going up to Big Lake more, not sure how many games we will see, but will try to get to as many as we can.
I watch a good amount of ShihTzu videos online and really still miss Max. We have just lightly discussed if we should get another dog, but I would like to be even more stable walking before we think more seriously. When we were in Florida, I did so much walking, especially when we were at NASA, that my right knee (the good one) started to bother me. So know my PT guy helps me work both…and really the right knee is getting better than it was. The left knee (the bad one) is getting stronger, but it is still numb around the knee area which is really pretty creepy. I don’t think my knee will go out on me, but being numb it is just not really a sure thing to me. I use the cane less and less…mainly going on steps and getting up in the morning because it can be stiff.
Our friend, and Jermar’s Aunt did pass away the next morning. Once they turned off the machines it was just a matter of a little time after that.

I did finish the May issue of the On Cloud 9. Again we were over in pages so I had to cut some articles out. This is just the cover…in total there are about 17 pages with articles submitted by members and staff.

Usually it is pretty fun and not too time consuming to complete…except when I have to “bug” people to meet the deadline.
Well, we will see what the weather brings tomorrow!
Take care…stay dry!
