So a couple of weeks ago we were at Big Lake. We had not uncovered the air/heat unit yet so could not turn on the heat so it was pretty chilly inside. David was off helping someone at the office. i had taken my shoes off and had a blanket over me on my lap. I decided to get up to do something … what I don’t remember now… and I tripped over my own shoes forgetting they were under the blanket!!!!! I fell, trying to stop my fall with my left hand and I immediately knew something was off. I saw my ring finger started to swell along with the top of my hand. I immediately went to take my rings off, which was not easy….but finally got them off!!
David came back and I told him I might have hurt my hand but was OK to still do some of the yard work we wanted done. My hand (and toe) hurt but not too bad. Through the night the swelling on my hand increased and my foot by the toes was a dark color purple. So in the morning it was off to Tria Urgent Care. Turns out I have 2 broken bones in my hand and 1 broken bone in my toe. So it is off to “hand therapy” to get a splint!

I guess the good news is that it is my left hand…but being a “home key” fast typist, updating my blog is a slower process. Worse is that I said now I can’t play the keyboard for 5-6 weeks! Well I decided that is not going to happen…so I play the full notes with my right hand and with my left hand I use the hunt and peck option and play only 1 note. Doesn’t sound too bad. I have skipped some songs where the left hand part is integral to the song…those will have to wait.
But we still have out and about watching baseball (which can really seem boring to 6-7 year old players) and flag football.

I do see the ortho on Thursday and will see how the bones are doing. I don’t have a splint on my foot but do have a lovely black boot to wear.
My DIL did send me these beautiful flowers as a “get well” present. It is designed in honor of Prince…thus all the purple!!

The boys were brave on Friday night and had their first sleepover in a tent with Caley and Darcee. And they stayed outside the whole night!!

Caley said it was really glampling especially with a movie set up like this.
Got word last week that the first attorney I ever worked for, Charlie Rogers, passed away. I think I started working for him in around 1989 or so. He knew I was taking legal assistant classes at North Hennepin and asked if I was interested in being a legal secretary. (He had also been the legal advisor for the BPAA) He was mainly a defense attorney, which was quite interesting, but I also worked with 2 other lawyers that were family law. I once sat in the back of the courtroom and watched Charlie defend a client and what a different Charlie I saw there!! Great experience! Charlie has battled various cancers over the years, but had enjoyed a number of years of remission. About a year ago it came back with a vengeance and moved into his lungs and that is when Charlie lost that long battle! They are going to have a memorial for him at Elm Creek Park which is a perfect setting for that!
Well it has been an interesting couple of weeks! And now it is HOT…90’s and it was awful watching flag football in the sun yesterday. But fun game…they went in to overtime with Jaxen’s team winning.
Note: may be more typos and misspellings than usual since my left hand is limited…so take that into consideration if you think critiquing is needed. š
Have a warm day!
