As They Say…enough is enough

So tomorrow we will be going to our 4th funeral this summer so far and all because of that stupid cancer!!! There just needs to be a cure, or at least treatments for the currently uncurable!!

I want to honor all 4 here and then end with a great picture from the summer.

Sandra Guidry – thyroid cancer…she was diagnosed and within weeks passed away. She is Jermar’s Aunt and had the kindest soul you can imagine.

Charlie Rogers – multiple cancers…he was the first attorney I worked for back in the days. He had been the BPAA attorney and knew I was going to North Hennepin for Legal Assistant so he asked if I wanted to work in his law office. I ended up working for him and 2 other lawyers and it was a great experience. I had the chance to put my fast typing skills to use as I listened to dictation and typed up legal documents.

I had not seen him in a number of years but recently we caught up again via Facebook and we shared our cancer journeys. Unfortunately his was that the cancer had returned and had spread. It was pneumonia that actually got him at the end. His wife, Pat, was so happy to see me at his service at Elm Creek Park.

Louis Fohr — pancreatic cancer…the greatest Brother-in-Law one could ask for. He had a kind and gentle spirit, was a friend to so many and would be there if needed. We went to Milwaukee for his services which was a simple and beautiful ceremony at the cemetery. We had known for about a year that Lou had cancer and it would eventually be terminal. So many family members and friends were as prepared as we could be. We enjoyed a gathering after the ceremony at the golf course where he was a long time member and it was a very fitting location.

Wess Kilker — liver cancer…one of our nephew’s, wife of Jane, Dick’s daughter. Wess was diagnosed about a year and had even got 2nd and 3rd opinions, but all thoughts were not positive. Wess was only 55 years old. He and Jane had been married since 2000 and as he said he married “the love of his life”. We will attend his services Saturday, with some family members traveling from Milwaukee to attend.

The passing of these family members have made it for a difficult summer. As David said getting older sucks…you have the aches and pains and then you start losing family and friends. On the family Zoom yesterday, we and Dick were the last ones to hang up and I know Dick is devastated by the loss of his son-in-law Wess. He said Wess was the glue that kept his family together. But as he said, our families are what are important so I want to end this blog on a positive note.

Positive Note: We did a lot of traveling back and forth from either Big Lake or Blaine to attend Jaxen’s baseball games. And those last games were blazing hot!! The kind of hot were you sweat just sitting in one place. But that team worked their butts off and ended up winning 1st place in their division in Little League. Great couches and families supported the team. This picture is after the win and includes both parents, Jackie, Jermar, Jaxen, Jaylen and Jason and Jen. This is what life is about…FAMILY!!

Take Care and hug someone you love today!
