On The Road Again

We have started our voyage back to Minnesota, but decided instead of having to stay in hotels we found an alternative:

camper

It is a travel trailer that is just a perfect size for us!  We left Cottonwood on Sunday, where it was 106 degrees!!!  We were certainly hoping that we were heading in the right direction to find some cooler weather as we headed north to Utah.

I had made reservations at a campground “Kaibab Camper Village” in Fredonia, AZ.  My initial pick was already filled by the time we decided to leave so this was our 2nd choice and turned out to be good.  The reviews were good — it is at 7000 feet up on a plateau.  Pictures on the web showed it surrounded by pine trees, but driving there, through desert like surroundings I wondered where in the heck these pine trees were!   As we left highway 89 and turned on to 89A (which is the same road we live on in Cottonwood!!), the scenery really started to change and it was amazing!

And the campground is really very nice!  We are surrounded by pine trees, which being up on the plateau, the wind is constantly moving through the trees making a small sound that is great background noise.  Max and I walked through the trees this morning and it was so peaceful!

All in all this seemed like a great choice, picking blindly based on the reviews and the limited pictures on the campground’s website, but definitely a place we would camp at again.

Today we are on our way to Utah State Park near Provo.  We could not make reservations since we did not do it 48 hours in advance so we will take out chance on a site being available once we get there.  If it is full, we do have a KOA alternative near by that hopefully will have a spot available.

Found out this morning that the West Yellowstone entrance opened today, which we were hoping to camp by so we could drive through Yellowstone.  Had an alternate route in mind if West Yellowstone did not open, but glad we can go with our original plan.

Stay safe!  Stay healthy!
