Yes, it has been forever since I have written anything!! Lots of changes in the last few months that I may address at some point, but wanted to activate the blog again as we started our travels. We are driving from MN to FL for a few weeks just to enjoy some non-snow days and non-winter coat days.
We left last Saturday, 2/19 and decided to take a slight detour as we went east to Menasha, WI to enjoy on of the great Mihm’s steak sandwiches. They are now closed on Sunday and Mondays so if we wanted to make this stop we had to leave on Saturday. The drive went well but we had to make a quick stop to see the Larkins boys.

Little Jaylen is not quite walking yet…just a step or two….but will probably be full our running when we get back to MN!!
Mihm’s was good as always and although there were some snowy roads on the drive, you could see it was getting less and less. As we drove we heard all about the snow storm that was heading towards MN.

We left Oshkosh the next morning, Sunday, which was a perfect day to have to drive around Chicago with less traffic than normal. It really was not a bad drive around the city. Of course, we always have to be aware of charging stations to charge the Tesla and we try to plan our trip around those options.
That night we stayed near Louisville, KY, which was about a 478 mile trip — one that is longer than we usually like to have. We did stop at a fun charging station at Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks, IN. It was all cow themed, including a “cowfey” for coffee and small snacks. We did not take any of the tours but they do provide tours of working areas of the Farm.

We prefer not to drive in the dark, but this day we did not get to the hotel until 8 or so. We stayed at a Sheraton right on the Ohio River (so really we were still in IN). Could not really see the river from the hotel room, but on our morning walk Max and I got to see it a little more and up close. Not sure if it is a Spring time thing or normal, but the river was really dirty brown and tons of stuff floating along. Did get to see a barge going down the river!

We then took a fairly short drive to Nashville, TN, where we plan to go see a show at the Grand Ole Opry!!! I have always wanted to see a show there, so am very excited. One of the performers scheduled is Gary Lavox, who was the lead singer for Rascal Flatts…now on his own. Will share pictures and thoughts in the next blog!
